About ME
Hi, I'm Carmen.
I am a language teacher, a language learner, and a language lover. ❤
I was born and raised in Austria, lived in Germany for 8 years, and then moved to the US in 2006.
My native language is German and I speak English at a near native level.
I started learning English in school, continued studying as an adult, and eventually became a certified English-German translator. I also learned French for 5 years (unfortunately I forgot most of it because I never really used it) and I am now learning Spanish (but I am still a beginner). So I totally understand how it feels to learn another language, and I also know how it feels to live in a new country!
I started out working as a freelance translator and translation project manager at Siemens. After moving to the US and having kids, I started teaching German and later ESL (English as a Second Language).
I’m passionate about food, travel, and learning about other cultures.
In my free time I love reading, going for long walks in nature, baking, and exploring foods and restaurants from different countries of the world.
